[edit] Geology

Located in close proximity to the Channel Islands, Neopolis Island shares some of the Channel Island's characteristics. Composed primarily of Eocene sandstone and shale, much of the island also has marine terrace deposits of Pleistocene age, indicating that it was probably completely submerged at that time. Parts of the western part of the island is covered with reddish-brown eolian dune deposits laid down during the early Holocene. Small quantities of volcanic rocks (primarily andesite) exist on the southeast end of the island.

[edit] Media

Neopolis is probably one of the only cities where people watch the local channels moreso than the national ones, because the local channels really ~speak~ to them: soap operas, sitcoms, primetime dramas... all about super-powered people. Celebrities are always actual powered people in addition to being screen supers. Just like comic-based movies have become really popular now, Neopolis films have hit a certain vogue with the general American public (much to the delight of the city's citizens). For more, see the page on Neopolitan culture.

[edit] Sports

The supercity has a totally off-the-hook sports environment. Practically anything goes, since you're all special anyway: there are superspeed men, superstrength guys whacking balls right out of the park, someone with levitation boots flying to catch it in the air, magicians zapping people, and so on. For more, see the page on Neopolitan culture.

[edit] Trade schools

  • Neopolis Academy
On January 1st, 2009, the President of the United States summoned Mayor Marvelous and Dr. Horrible to the Oval Office. After several days of heated discussion, a solution was created: there would be a school. A trade school, where Neopolis teenagers would come together - hero, villain, and in-betweens alike - to learn how to be capable, contributing members of Neopolis society. A school that would teach tolerance and understanding, in hopes of making the world at large a safer place.
  • The Insidious Institute: The former ELE-sponsored trade school. Closed before the opening of Neopolis Academy.
  • Olympia Preparatory: The former BHH-sponsored trade school. Closed before the opening of Neopolis Academy.

  • Promethean High: Private high school, founded by the Band of Heroic Heroes. Obviously, students here are taught Hero "values" and are expected to become members of the Band of Heroic Heroes one day.
  • Fenris Academy: Private high school, founded by the Evil League of Evil. Promethean High's rival and antithesis. In contrast to Promethean, Fenris students are taught Evil "values" and expected to become members of the Evil League of Evil one day.
  • The Mary Shelley School: Specialized 'Gothic' K-11 school, that holds mostly night classes. The Evil League of Evil kept an eye on the students here, with members of the staff reaching out to those they thought might make a good member one day. However, the school was sorely neglected by representatives of the Band of Heroic Heroes.
  • Marvelous High: Neutral public high school, but with sub-par teaching and inadequate resources for its varied students. Students who went here may have included the poor and the untalented, or simply those who just didn't care about an "evil" or "heroic" future - or came from families that didn't.

  • The Aerodrome: Smaller airport generally limited to private jets.
